NY Patriots Win Young World Tri-State 14under Chips

Congratulations to coaches Elliot Rosado, Gee Smith and the NY Patriots 14U squad on winning two prestigious championships this summer walking away with the Tri-State classic summer championship defeating Team Artest and in the semi-finals the NY Patriots beat a very good CASW.

O'shea Bell walked away with the MVP award scoring 29 pts in the chip coming through with clutch baskets down the stretch.

This young man has an old school game and a knack for scoring as well a tremendous athlete. Nkereuwem Okoro, Daniel Dingle, Shamgod Wells, Trey Williams and Jamel Torrence also contributed to the win.

Team Artest was led by Rashad Andrews and Charles Lawrence as the game was close until the final minute of the game.

The NY Patriots also captured the Young World championship defeating the NY Panthers. On the way to the championship game the NY Patriots had a rematch versus Team Artest and once again it was an epic match up in which the Patriots won by 3 points.

In the championship game it was a back and forth struggle for the lead as the Panther guards pressured the Patriots early in the first quarter and the Panther big man from Holy Cross HS banged inside and shot the lights outs behind the try line.

In the second quarter the Patriots took the lead as the Panther big man was forced to sit down as Daniel Dingle, Nkereuwem Okoro and Davon "Poppa" Ragin attacked the offensive glass. The Patriots took a one point lead to end the first half.

The second ran pretty much the same as the Patriots ran away with game with Jason "J-Smoove" Boswell, Daniel Dingle and Nkereuwem Okoro matching every three point shot made by the Panthers.

The guard play and defensive effort by Jamel "Poquito" Torrence, Jovon Parks, Shamgod "Baby Sham" Wells, and Trey Williams halted any offensive the Panthers would try and make. The Panther 14U squad is mixed with 13 and 14 year olds and will definitely be a threat on the 14U summer league circuit next year.

The NY Patriots also finished second in the Hoops in the Sun at Orchard Beach 14U tournament while losing in the semifinals of the Holocumbe Rucker Tournament and Nike Swoosh tournament.

The young men worked very hard this summer and competed at high level in every game. I would like to acknowledge the young men for a great summer. Jovon Parks, Jemal Smith, Jaquan Brown, Shamgod Wells, Trey Williams, Davon "Poppa" Ragin, O'shea Bell, Eric Gaye, Jamel Torrence, Nkereuwem Okoro, Daniel Dingle, and Jason Boswell.
