In my 10th year of evaluating talent. I have figured out what's the build of a good basketball player. Over 100 college basketball coaches read RealScout.net, in a effort to recruit new york city. In my Four-Part series, I'd like to put my honest opinions out there and discuss some of New York City's top available players in the 2009 senior class.
Not everyone of these players aren't Division One superstars, but they do have a chance of playing D1 or D2 Basketball in september.
RealScout.net NYC Uncommitted Seniors List
Part 1
Sean Johnson 6'2 Christ the King (Queens)
I've been watching Sean play since 8th grade. Johnson is one of the best talents in high school basketball. The possible CHSAA Player of the Year, Johnson plays both ends of the court better than most.
While some coaches wonder if Sean can handle the point at the next level, Johnson has still got offers from Houston, Auburn, Coastal Carolina, Iona, Manhattan, Fordham, Quinnipiac, and Robert Morris.
Tyreak Johnson 6'0 St. Raymond's (Bronx)
Johnson will have a scholarship. St. Raymond's coach Antigua will make sure to that, since all his players do attend college afterwards. Johnson is another player I think could play at the d1 level, but really needs to be watched more closely by coaches.
Yaquis Moss 6'1 Beach Channel (Queens)
Season avgs 15ppg 4rpg
Moss is one of those throwback players, a job on the weekends...and basketball on the weekdays. A hardworking guard, Moss is a role player who scores when needed. His coach expects him to go junior college.
Brian Wilson 6'7 Satellite Academy (Queens NY)
Our Savior Lutheran, LI Lutheran, now Sattellite Academy...Wilson is a low post threat, who's best basketball days are ahead of him. This season he avg 24ppg and 16rpg. Trust me, he's one of the best available big men left in the state. Wilson started for the NY Panthers last summer.
Dominic Murray 6'2 McClancy HS (Queens)
"I know d1 talent...and while he isn't on anybodys radar right now, murray will be a d1 player if he goes the prep school/juco route. A just turned 17year old senior, murray has all the tools, but is a unknown player. Not a big scorer, murray has a scholarship offer from St. Catherine's (NAIA) in Benton Kentucky.
Terrance Henderson 6'5 Wadleigh (Manhattan)
14ppg & 8rpg
Henderson's gets to the hoop better than most players in the psal. Oddly enough, I have seen him play over 20 times in the past, but never knew his name. But, after a excellent is8 with (JR All Stars), I figured what's the harm in actually looking in the book? Henderson has the height, skill, and complete game to play at the next level.
Andre Armstrong 6'2 Forest Hills HS (Queens)
16ppg, 3pg, 3apg
Andre is one of the better shooters I've ever coached. Personally I know the kid can play at the d1 level but he hasn't had the greatest season in the city. A motivated player who is a leader on and off the court, Armstrong is motivated to succeed at the division one level. Right now has a full ride at Queens College(DII), and that's it.
