Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim said Jonny Flynn wants to return for his junior season, but he's advising the dynamic point guard to put his name in the NBA Draft pool by the April 30 deadline to better gauge how high he might be selected.
As long as Flynn doesn't sign with an agent, he could return to SU even after going to some NBA pre-draft workouts.
"He'd have to be top-10 (pick)," Boeheim told ESPN.com late Tuesday night. "He came in and wants to stay, and I do think he'll come back unless he's fairly high."
Boeheim also told ESPN.com that he thinks Flynn, the Big East Tournament MVP from Niagara Falls, who led the Orange to Sweet 16, likely could be a preseason first-team All-American and player-of-the-year candidate as a junior. That factors into Flynn's decision and could only enhance his draft status next year.
Flynn is also high on SU's potential, including a talented group of newcomers, particularly Iowa State transfer Wesley Johnson, who is a "great player and he could be first-team all-league. He's really good, really explosive," Boeheim told ESPN.com
